DNP Program Overview

º£½ÇÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø’s Doctor of Nursing Practice Program prepares you to be a future leader in healthcare who can effect change toward practice improvement, address health inequities, and impact patient experiences and outcomes. As a graduate of our Doctor of Nursing Practice Program, you’ll be uniquely prepared to analyze system processes and lead initiatives to improve the quality and safety of healthcare delivery for patients and families, at both the individual and population levels. º£½ÇÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø’s Helen S. DNP Student Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program, graduates will be prepared to: 

  1. Develop scholarly inquiry to design, advance, or inform evidence-based strategies that shape nursing practice, education, and research.  
  2. Lead the implementation of population-level and system-wide policies and interventions that advance equitable, person-centered care to reduce disparities across diverse settings and populations.  
  3. Design systems-level quality and safety initiatives that enhance safety, improve outcomes, streamline care, reduce disparities and promote a culture of equity and accountability. 
  4. Lead strategic interprofessional partnerships through a systems thinking approach that facilitates collaboration and transformative changes.  
  5. Appraise evidence using data science and informatics to evaluate practice, education, and policy at the systems level. 
  6. Advance one's professional identity and leadership through sustained reflection, advocacy, and alignment with nursing practice and standards.

Curriculum

The Doctor of Nursing Practice post-master’s program includes 12 courses that can be taken synchronously online. As a full-time student, you’ll complete 35 credits in 8 terms over the course of 2 years. If you choose to enroll in this program part-time, you’ll complete your degree in 3 to 4 years. º£½ÇÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø MSN alumni require only 29 credits, as 6 MSN credits are applied toward the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree requirements.

Admission Requirements

  • Master’s degree in nursing or related discipline
  • Submission of official transcripts from all postsecondary schools attended
  • Unencumbered active RN licensure
  • Two professional references, including one from a nursing supervisor or a recent academic reference
  • Personal statement of professional goals for doctoral study and nursing career (optional)
  • Professional résumé or curriculum vitae
  • Interview with the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program Director

Accreditation

º£½ÇÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø will seek accreditation for the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program after the first academic year with enrolled students, per the (CCNE) requirements. The baccalaureate and master’s degree programs in nursing at º£½ÇÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø are currently accredited by the CCNE.
